Active Older People at The Bridewell

We've had a brilliant time with the Active Older People Group. We've tried out loads of new crafts and been on several trips out. Our finale was at The Bridewell, opposite The Royal Hospital, where the group exhbited a selection of their art work.

Thanks to The Peoples Health Trust for all their assistance.

However, it's not the end of the group. They have become self managing, and continues to meet every Wednesday at Fairview Park community centre, off Sherbourne Avenue.
All welcome to attend.

Farewell to The Junior Artists Club

2 March 2015
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Children of ‘The Junior Artists Club’,
Due to circumstances beyond our control we will have to cancel The Junior Artists Club. The Environment Centre is undertaking a refurbishment and in future will be used more for corporate events. Knowsley MBC, who kindly allows us use of the space, has said we can continue using the space after the refurbishment. However there will be much reduced storage space, no office space, and concerns over activities that could be messy.
We have decided then that we have no option but to cease sessions for the time being. If we find space elsewhere, then we may be able to set up again.
I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with the children and running the various events and projects over the years. Watching the children develop interests in the arts, environment, and open spaces of the park, has been a joy and in return I have learnt much from the children.
We have received many well earned awards over the years, both as a group, including the very prestigious Liverpool Echo Keep on Learning Award in 2013; and individual awards, the most recent being only last week when a young artist won 3rd prize in the Knowsley Open Arts Awards. Well done Mollie! All the children can be rightly proud of their achievements.
Our last session will be on Wednesday 25th March.
Before then we have a wonderful exhibition of our Active Older People’s Group, and would like to invite children and parents to accompany us to the event. We will organise a minibus to get us all there. It will be on 18th March at The Bridewell Art Gallery, opposite The Royal Hospital.
The minibus will pick up at 4pm and deliver the group back about 6-6.30pm. I hope you can all make it.
If you wish to record any comments about the club and the children’s work, then you can add them to our blog post at http://halewoodarts.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/junior%20artists%20club.
Best wishes for the future from,

Carole Trenaman and all the Team - both past and present.

Christmas with Fairview Park AOP group

THe group had a lovely final art event of 2014 with some painting, lots of gorgeous food, and the creation of a group work.

They then donated the work to the group home of one of the members. Don't worry we have plenty more large works planned in the New Year to decorate the communal areas of the three blocks of flats.

Huge thanks to The People's Health Trust who have made the past two years of events possible.
The project funding is now coming to an end, but the group is going strong and will continue for the foreseeable future.
The group meet in Fairview Park Community Centre, Sherbourne Avenue, Halewood and is open to all local residents.

Many thanks to all those who have contributed, and to KHT who provide the space for their residents and tenants to meet and mix with each other and other local residents.

Lanterns 2014

We had an interesting Halloween supporting and attending local Hallowe'en Events.
The Liverpool Lantern Company put on their usual spectacular event with local community groups designing and carrying small, and not so small! lanterns.
A brilliant firwork display with choirs, musicians, and dancers contributing made it a unique visual spectacular event.
