We are running a range of arts and crafts workshops every Wednesday afternoon from 1pm. All activities are suitable for beginners. Funded by The Peoples Health Trust

Summer School details

Around the World in 5 Days

SUMMER SCHOOL FOR 7-12 YEAR OLDS

Each day is a lively exploration of five parts of the world and their culture. With a great range of activities to keep the children absorbed and entertained. Using a mixture of crafts, arts, storytelling and drama games, the young people will be encouraged to create their own artwork in different styles. It could be Native American masks and totems; or Aboriginal Paintings; or Chinese kites. Even design your own transport to get you to these far-away places.

     We will be working outdoors and indoors, doing lots of messy things, and working together to create some great work. So come prepared! Don't wear your best clothes or you could bring an old shirt to wear.

Healthy snacks will be available morning and afternoon. Please bring your own packed lunch.

Experienced creative artists and educators with CRB checks and First Aid certificates will lead the workshops.

Karen Edwards. Is a freelance visual artist based in Liverpool. As well as her own work she has enjoyed sharing her shared creative skills with participants of all ages through schools, colleges and community groups since 2003. www.karenedwardscreations.com

Carole Trenaman. For the past 8 years has been workshop leader and project co-ordinator for The Junior Artists Club. She has also worked in schools delivering creative projects focusing on The Environment, Science, and Maths topics. Carole has a degree in Drama and Theatre studies. www.boomtime2003.com

COSTS

Each day costs £25. A 20% discount is available for attending the whole week =£100

TIME

Each day starts at 9.00am and finishes at 5.00pm.You can drop off your children from 8.30am onwards and collect by 5.30pm .

Summer School

We are looking for two enthusiastice volunteers to assist with our Summer School.

23rd July to 27th July in Halewood.

Each day we will explore arts, crafts, and drama games related to one of the Continents. e.g. Masks, didgeridoos, windmills, Native American culture, etc.

The sessions will be led by professional creative educators.
The Summer School is for children aged between 7-12 years of age.

It will be a very interesting, intense, and enjoyable week of activities.

Work Experience at Halewood Arts Association

The past fortnight we have been very lucky to have a student from Halewood Centre for Learning working alongside us. Rachel has been assisting with the arts administration, the Junior Artists club, helping to update the blog and also working alongside one of our other volunteers Sophie and her company Strange Case Collective.

Rather than having us type out what it is Rachel is interested in and what she has enjoyed this week, we thought we'd give her the opportunity to write up her own blog post for the website... We would like to begin this post by saying a huge thank you to Rachel as she has helped out a lot over the past two weeks and fit in perfectly with Halewood Arts Association. I will hand over now to Rachel...

In the past two weeks I have learnt a lot about the bushiness side of art, I wanted my work experience to be art related because it is something I have always enjoyed, currently take it as a subject in school and want as an aspect in my future. The people of Halewood Arts have been openly friendly and helpful in advising about a number of things like; making contacts and networking, organising events and possible career options.

I had the option to work with Sophie in panting props for a live music event threshold heavy with her company; Strange Case Collective. guitars shown here:

The frets were my idea.

Overall it has been a very valuable experiences. Ive enjoyed working with the greatt kids; who are so friendly and well behaved, learning more about the community and taking part in Strange Case Collective. Couldn't have been with better people.. THANK YOU!

Workshop Volunteer Needed

Halewood Arts Association are looking for people to help out with the Junior Artists Club workshops on a Wednesday afternoon. The children are aged 7 to 12 years old.

It would involve committing to two or three hours a week only. We need people who can relate to children, are interested in education, arts, or environmental issues.

An enhanced CRB check will be undertaken.

One of our regular volunteers Sophie has this to say about working within Halewood Arts Association

"I have been an active volunteer within Halewood Arts Association for over a year now. I assist in the office, organising events and assisting the Junior Artists Club every Wednesday. I thoroughly enjoy it here and the skills I have learnt and the people I have met have improved my CV so much and the opportunities that have came up from this are invaluable"
